FAQs

What’s included in the induction, onboarding and training program?

The induction, onboarding, and training program was designed by the program partners in collaboration with PeakCare to align with the entry-level job requirements of our sector. It includes:

  • Up to 4 units of competency from the Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention course, including:
    1. CHCCCS019 – Recognise and respond to crisis situations.
    2. CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma-informed care.
    3. CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people.
    4. CHCDIV002 – Promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety.
  • During the ten days, an assessment program includes psychometric testing and fit-for-role assessments that predict suitability, retention likelihood, and job preference.
  • Non-accredited job readiness skills.
  • Industry orientation and guest speakers.
  • Informal meet and greet with candidates and member representatives.

Candidates that do not meet the minimum suitability skills for the industry will be supported to transition into aged care, NDIS, and other care roles.

Who is Peak Care QLD?

PeakCare is the peak body for the child and family sector and represents a wide range of organisations involved in delivering child, youth and family services, NDIS, and other related services across Queensland.

How is the program being delivered?

Our program partners, Workforce Connect and Look Now Training, will deliver this program. The program partners have extensive experience successfully managing and delivering labour market and workforce development projects over many years. The program will operate over 12 months, with several intakes in multiple region. An online option will enable participants outside these locations to participate in the program.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to participate. It is a fully funded program.

Are there any eligibility requirements?

To work in the Child, Youth & Family sector, there is a minimum requirement for you to have Police Background Check & National Worker Screening (formally known as Blue Card and Yellow Card). It is recommended that you apply for the National Worker Screening as soon as possible as these applications take a minimum of 4-6 weeks, and you cannot commence work without clearance.
